Weyberards Barns is a carefully considered redevelopment of a former agricultural site within the Green Belt, transforming a makeshift barn structure into an elegant collection of five new residential units. This sensitive conversion retains the rural character of the site while introducing a refined architectural approach that enhances both the setting and the living experience.

Securing planning consent for this development was particularly complex, with stringent restrictions imposed by the Local Planning Authority. A key challenge was the insistence on retaining the existing ridge height and faithfully preserving the elevational treatment of what was originally a utilitarian barn structure. Through a meticulous design process, PFG Design has ensured that the conversion both respects these constraints and delivers high-quality contemporary homes that embrace the site’s agricultural heritage.

A significant element of the proposal involved the careful deconstruction of an outdated industrial steel shed, which reduced the overall volume of built form on the site. This intervention not only complied with Green Belt regulations but also allowed for an enhanced relationship between the new homes and the surrounding landscape, opening up the site to its natural setting.

Each of the five new dwellings has been thoughtfully designed to provide a harmonious balance between traditional rural aesthetics and modern comfort. Large openings maximize natural light and frame views of the countryside, while high-quality materials and detailing ensure the homes feel both authentic and enduring. The scheme also prioritizes sustainability, integrating energy-efficient features to enhance performance while preserving the barn’s heritage.

With construction scheduled to commence in April 2025, Weyberards Barns represents a careful and considered transformation—breathing new life into a disused structure while upholding the integrity of its Green Belt setting. The result will be a distinctive collection of homes that celebrate the site’s agricultural past while offering contemporary rural living.
