Tall Trees
/

Tall Trees is a 7,500 sq ft residence, set within the picturesque landscape of Loudwater, Rickmansworth. Positioned on a challenging gradient, the home has been carefully integrated into its surroundings to take full advantage of the site’s natural attributes while responding sensitively to the constraints of the conservation area.

Originally, the site was occupied by a modest bungalow with a completely different orientation. PFG Design reimagined the positioning of the new house to maximize the breathtaking, elevated views across the treetops while creating a private and sun-drenched south-facing garden. This strategic placement not only enhances the relationship between the home and its environment but also ensures an abundance of natural light throughout the living spaces.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional vernacular of the area, Tall Trees is a refined architectural response that blends seamlessly with its historic surroundings. The design pays particular attention to materiality and detailing, with carefully crafted stonework framing the windows and doors, adding both depth and elegance to the façade. The result is a home that feels inherently rooted in its setting while maintaining a timeless and distinguished character.

Internally, the layout has been designed to offer both grandeur and intimacy. At the heart of the home lies an exceptional double-height dining hall—a dramatic focal point that not only enhances the sense of space but also introduces a gallery-style access leading to the master suite. This architectural feature creates a striking interplay of light and volume, adding a sense of openness and refinement to the interior experience.

Through considered design and expert craftsmanship, Tall Trees stands as an exquisite example of traditional architecture reinterpreted for modern living. It is a home that not only embraces its landscape but elevates the experience of living within it.
