The Garden House is a striking contemporary residence, thoughtfully designed to blend modern architecture with the natural beauty of its idyllic setting. Nestled within a secluded two-acre site on a prestigious private road in Chorleywood, this 6,000 sq ft home has been designed over three levels, embracing both the opportunities and constraints of its location.

Tasked with delivering a contemporary yet timeless family home, PFG Design reoriented the building to optimize natural light, privacy, and views, while responding sensitively to the surrounding conservation area. The house takes full advantage of its verdant setting, with floor-to-ceiling glazing that seamlessly connects interior and exterior spaces, flooding the living areas with natural light and framing picturesque views of the landscape. Given the site's topography, double height spaces were introduced to provide natural light into the basement.
Sustainability was a key driver of The Garden House, with a focus on passive design strategies and energy efficiency. Expansive glazing optimizes natural daylight and solar gain, while high-performance insulation, air source heat pumps, and other renewable technologies ensure reduced energy consumption and an environmentally responsible footprint. The result is a contemporary home that not only respects the natural setting but enhances it, delivering a modern sanctuary that harmonizes luxury with sustainability.
